Christian author James Dobson wrote, “A good marriage must have its foundation in Jesus Christ in order to experience lasting love, peace, and joy.” Over our 31 years together, we have experienced moments of great joy, deep sadness, times of bountiful blessings, and seasons of desperate trails. But if not for the gift of faith and our ever-increasing reliance on Jesus Christ in every circumstance—both the good and the bad—our marriage would have ended like so many.
We desire to glorify God in our marriage. In that, we believe God has called us to a marriage counseling ministry and as a way to prepare for this new journey, we’ve decided to explore marriage topics in a public forum. We’re not sure where this journey will lead us, but we are excited and willing to go where He takes us.
We hope that by being radically transparent and honest about the good and not so good parts of our partnership, other couples will be encouraged and inspired to invite Christ into their relationship. We have learned over and over that, walking through marriage with Jesus Christ in the middle is truly the only way to become “one flesh.”
In 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Paul teaches, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” God has been gracious to us through some incredibly difficult and unique trials. We know He has provided that comfort to us so that we may, in turn, comfort others. We want to share the grace and wisdom we found in Him through the deepest of valleys with the hope that it allows for healing for your marriage.
